You provide answers for 3 questions — your SSN, the type of return you filed and the number of exemptions you claimed. Then you will get a quick report of how big your rebate is and when it was, or will be, electronically sent or dropped in the mail. If you are a week ahead of the trigger date, the site will ask you to come back later and check.

From the IRS: Question: I filed a Joint Return. Which Social Security Number do I use to get my Stimulus Payment status?

Answer: Either SSN may be used. However; the Schedule for payment is based on FIRST Social Security Number shown on your 2007 tax return.
